sabr project
hay point coal terminal shiploader 2

Client: McConnell Dowell
Date: February 2022 – June 2022

McConnell Dowell Constructors engaged Weldtech Oilfield Services for our expertise in specialised marine temporary steel fabrication for the SABR Project Phase 2 in Hay Point Coal Terminal, Queensland to provide a work temporary access towers structures. Our experienced team at Weldtech put a significant amount of practice knowledge into the engineering team to lighten the overall weight of each structure by also keeping it robust.

One month into the production of access towers, McConnell Dowell extended the contract to Weldtech to also include the supply of 17x jacket leg top protection covers and 16x Gallery Conveyor Support Frames.

The support frames were used as a temporary sea fastening aid during barge movement to accommodate several 1200dia and 1500dia piles on each barge.

Overall, the extended fabrication contract had kept the Weldtech team busy over some period of time and the team had completed the scope successfully within the tight schedule followed by zero LTI’s.
